Can you get braces at your first orthodontist appointment?
The goal of your first appointment is to assess your needs and help create a plan that is right for you. For some, braces or clear aligners may be needed. In that case, we will discuss those treatment options and schedule additional appointments to complete the necessary procedures before you get fitted.
We proudly offer many treatment methods for adults and teens, including clear and metal Damon Braces, Invisalign clear aligners, and retainers. Schedule a free consultation today!
What to expect at your first appointment
The first visit is the perfect opportunity for you to ask us questions and to understand how we can best help you or your child. The purpose of the first complimentary appointment is for you to:
Meet the team and take an office tour
We want to meet you and show you where we work. Because orthodontic treatment takes place over many appointments, it’s important that you and your family feel comfortable at our office. We have comfortable furniture and state-of-the-art equipment for your enjoyment.
Receive a comprehensive orthodontic exam
To fully understand how to treat you best, our team will conduct a thorough exam of your teeth, including:
- Reviewing your dental records
- Examining your teeth and gums with specific tools
We’ll be on the lookout for common orthodontic issues such as an overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite, spacing issues and more. Once you’ve completed your exam, you’ll be able to start your treatment process that day, if you want! All you need to do is sign a contract and provide an initial down payment.
Review your treatment plan options
The records, images, and molds will help us create a customized treatment plan. We will discuss every step of the plan and how long the treatment will last.
For some patients, we will want to start as soon as possible. For others, especially children, the best approach might be to wait until all their teeth are in and their bites fully settle. If waiting is necessary, the orthodontist will schedule check-in appointments to assess their development and decide when to start treatment.
Discuss payment and insurance plans
The cost of treatment depends on your case. Your orthodontist will provide a cost breakdown so you can see how each element of the plan is valued. Our team will review your insurance and discuss the most efficient ways to pay for care. Financing is available to all patients.
Schedule your next visit
The next step will be to schedule your next appointment. Our friendly staff will work with you to find the days and times that are perfect for your schedule. At each following appointment, your orthodontist will assess your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
